HOW WE SHIP
CONTAINER2GO Containers ships all products β raw containers and custom-built homes β using specialized heavy-haul transport. We do not use standard freight carriers. Every delivery is coordinated directly by our logistics team to ensure your container or home arrives safely and on schedule.
Shipping costs are calculated based on the product type, dimensions, weight, and delivery distance from our production facilities in Austin, TX and Milwaukee, WI. You will receive a firm shipping quote before finalizing your order.
DELIVERY METHODS
We use four delivery methods depending on your product, property access, and local conditions. Our logistics team will recommend the right method when quoting your delivery.
SHIPPING TIMELINES
Raw Containers
Raw containers (unmodified 20ft and 40ft) ship from our nearest holding yard. Transit times vary by distance from our facilities:
Custom-Built Container Homes
Custom homes are shipped after production is complete and final payment is received. Build times are 6β16 weeks depending on complexity. Shipping transit time after production:
| Distance from Production | Estimated Transit | Permit Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Under 500 miles | 1β3 days | Typically no |
| 500β1,500 miles | 3β6 days | Possible |
| 1,500+ miles | 5β10 days | Yes |
SITE PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS
A successful delivery requires your site to be prepared in advance. CONTAINER2GO is not responsible for delivery delays or additional charges caused by unprepared or inaccessible sites.
Access Requirements
- Minimum 14ft clearance height for overhead obstacles (trees, power lines, bridges)
- Minimum 12ft road width for tilt-bed delivery trucks
- At least 100ft of straight, level approach road for tilt-bed off-loading
- Ground must support the weight of a fully loaded delivery truck (approx. 80,000 lbs)
- No soft mud, sand, or unstable ground along the delivery path
Foundation Requirements
Your site must have a suitable foundation ready before delivery. We do not install foundations. Acceptable foundation types include:
- Railroad ties or timber beams β most affordable, allows future relocation
- Concrete piers or footings β permanent, highly stable
- Gravel pad (compacted) β good drainage, affordable
- Concrete slab β most permanent option for finished homes
- Existing flat hardscape β concrete driveways, parking lots
What Happens If the Site Is Not Ready
- If the driver cannot safely deliver, a re-delivery fee of $350β$850 applies depending on distance
- Storage fees of $45/day apply if we must hold your container at a nearby yard
- It is your responsibility to communicate site access issues before the scheduled delivery date
